What Teens Wish Their Parents Knew

Teen Esteem, a local non-profit that speaks to tens of thousands of teens a year, is hosting a special Parent Education Night at California High School in San Ramon on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 7:00pm in the Theatre.

They will be providing information that is shared with students at “Your Choice” assemblies held at local high schools.  The focus of the assembly is the importance of making healthy choices as it relates to drugs, drinking, sex, prescription drug abuse, depression, suicide and the pressures kids are facing today.  The presenters will discuss consequences, real-life scenarios and equip students with the tools to make healthy choices based on respect for self and others.

Grants from the local business community make it possible to offer the programs and to invite special guests like Bethany Hamilton, the “soul surfer” who lost her arm in a shark attack, who talked to teens last fall about finding something they are passionate about and making good choices.  They also present programs at Middle Schools and local non-profits.

This is vital information that every parent needs to hear and programs like these are what make our local schools special.  Please visit their website for more information at: http://www.teenesteem.com/
