At Least The Housing Market Is Heating Up Early This Year

There is no question about it.  There are WAY more home buyers out there than homes for sale and we’re seeing a feeding frenzy not normally seen this time of year.  In fact, the National Association of Realtors has reported that there has been 3x the buyer activity compared to the same time last year.

supply demand

The nicest homes in the nicest areas are flying off the shelves.  We’ve recently been involved in some bidding wars involving up to 25 buyers all trying to purchase a home that they’ve fallen in love with and then, when they don’t get that one they all move on to the next one and do it all over again.  Frankly, it’s heartbreaking to have to deliver the news that they didn’t get the house and have this repeat a number of times to some really great people.

Many potential sellers believe that waiting until the “traditional selling season” is in their best interests and normally that may be right.  Buyer demand is always lighter over the winter months, even here on the west coast where there isn’t the severe weather they see back east.  Remember this chart I shared before showing the most popular days that people list their homes?

Selling Season

With buyer activity so high, it may be in your best interests to beat the coming wave of homes hitting the market in the next several months and act quickly to get your home on the market as soon as possible.

So remember, if you, your family or friends are considering selling their home in 2015, we highly encourage all to reach out to us so we can help with reviewing the different options that exist for each particular situation.  We’re easy to work with, there is no obligation whatsoever, and we’re here to help!
